What's the Story?

Written by

I love behind the scenes info on anything. I love the stories, whether it's about the creation of a song, movie, book-- those things fascinate me. With that in mind, I thought I'd drop a little nug on you about The Dark Side of the Moon album cover.

There's nothing in the artwork that indicates the band: Pink Floyd, nor the title of the album. Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis are the duo that designed the beloved album cover. As you know, it depicts light being reflected by a glass prism into color. Six of the seven colors of the rainbow are featured, with only indigo missing. Keyboardist Richard Wright suggested the design team keep it clean and simple.

It's amazing how something so simple can be iconic.
