Me and Dorothy

Written by
Warning! This will be a sad one... I am one of those people who think it is wrong, wrong, wrong to decorate for Christams before Thanksgiving. This year however, I really don't care what the calendar says. I need joy and sparkles and wonder in my life and if putting a giant tree in my livingroom covered in lights can bring me a little bit of happiness than by George, put up 10! As I was unwrapping the Nativity Scene my mother hand painted me so many years ago, Dorothy Reichman caught my eye. She passed away on November 24,…

Gnawing Off The Nail Polish...

Last Thursday my son, Coen, attended his first fundraising gala as my plus one. If you've never been the parent of a 16 year-old boy, let me tell you, this was a magical moment. 1. He said he would go willingly. 2. He had to dress up in a suit. 3. He had to socialize with adults all evening long. 4. Did I mention he was going with ME???? Just a mom and her boy! To say I was excited about him spending time with me is an understatement. I was a little ridiculous. I had just purchased a new dress…

Being connected...

Written by
The struggle is real with these teens, y'all. I have three - 16, 14 & 12 (not technically a teen, but she's 12 going on 21.) I hear people say all the time, "These kids today...",  "Back in our day my mom would have..." fill in the blank with a million different things our moms would have done and ways our childhood was different. Let me tell you about "Back in MY day...". There was no internet. like, NO INTERNET. Plus, once there was an internet, only a few of my friends had it at their house. Only a few…

Saying goodbye to Ellet High School

Written by
Yesterday was the final walk through of Ellet High School before the wrecking ball arrives. It looked old, and tired, but it was still full of people, joy and so many memories. I graduated from Ellet High School in 1995. I loved high school. I loved MY high school.  I walked through with my best friend since middle school, Mary. I'm so glad we did it together. We may have found an orange permanent marker in the bottom of my purse while we were there and left one last memory on a few of the walls. We visited the auditorium. While…

It was a beautiful weekend in Columbus & I FINALLY got to see THE Ohio State marching band perform! Hubby & I were there to cheer on our son and the rest of the Copley Marching Band at the Buckeye Invitational on Saturday. 44 bands in all performed, we caught about half of them and they were all fantastic! We were there for Copley High School but had the pleasure of seeing a couple other local bands including the Massillon Tiger Swing Band & Wadsworth High School. It was a long day, but it was fun! Jason & I are…
If you know anything about me at all, I love cool little shops full of funky little things. One of my favorite little spots is Gypsy Grace And The Vintage Goat. It's located on Market Street down by Tangier. Stop in to see owners Angel & Joe. They have all sorts of off the wall hand crafted goodies. Angel finds things and thinks up some crazy ideas about how to make them new again. She tells Joe her idea, and he heads back to the workshop. If you haven't stumbled into this little shop, you have to check it out! …
