Woodstock 50

Written by
August 15, 1969 was the start of three of the most magical days in music history. I wasn't even born yet. My mom begged my dad to let her go, but with a newborn and a toddler at home, he was having none of it. She was always the hippie of the two of them... still is. She was there in spirit.  I can't even imagine what it would have been like to be there, but wow, that would have been amazing! Tonight my house, like many others, is rocking with Woodstock - on vinyl, because how else could you…

Never-ending Home Updates.

Written by
The beautiful thing about home ownership is that nothing will ever be finished. Just as you finish one project, there's another waiting for you. Also, no project can just go smoothly. You'll probably hear about quite a few of my ongoing projects.  The latest fun at Casa Sandra is The Wall. My 14 year old is getting a wall. The front sitting room was my secret getaway, until she finally decided she had put up with her little sister long enough and claimed the front room for herself. After a few months, we finally agreed and out mom's stuff went,…

Early risers? eh...

Written by
Are you an early riser? They call the natural early risers "Advanced Sleepers"... what ever.  Once upon a time my eyes popped open at 6:30-7am, I would have a cup of coffee & head out to the garden. It was lovely. Then the bus started picking kids up at 6:30 and we had to start getting up at 5:30... not so lovely. Then Jeff Kinzbach was all, "Hey! You should do the morning show with me!" and the alarm moved to 4am. It was about that time I decided that I may not be an early riser...   I love my…

Rock Week at Blossom!

Written by
How many concerts have you gone to at Blossom this week?  Heart, Joan Jett & Elle King rocked Sunday night, Santana & The Doobie Brothers killed it last night & tonight Peter Frampton says Farewell with some help from Jason Bonham.  I rolled in here Monday morning on Heart fumes, and tomorrow morning I will "feel like we do"... the morning after. I wanted to be at the show last night too, but I just don't think I could handle 3 concerts in one week. I've spoken to few people who are doing it though. God love them!  If you're…

Dear Evan Hansen

Written by
Yesterday afternoon we FINALLY got to see Dear Evan Hansen at Playhouse Square. It. Was. AMAZING.  I will even go so far as to say it has taken the top spot on my favorite stage productions. What a powerful story. I don't want to give too much away and spoil it for anyone, but I do want to talk about how modern this was. It dealt with teens, parents, social media, suicide, loneliness, anxiety, outcasts, and everything we, as families are going through on a daily basis. My husband and I took all three of our kids, our soon to…

Rib, White & Blue is next week!

Written by
Wait, July is MONDAY??  I don't know how it happened, but it is. With it comes Fourth of July and Akron's Rib, White & Blue Festival on Main Street (AKA King James Way) in downtown Akron. This year's fest kicks off just in time for the lunch crowd on Wednesday, July 3rd and runs through Saturday, July 6th. Admission is free and it runs from 11am-11pm each day. It features 11 rib vendors from 5 different states along with plenty of friend food temptations (don't forget The Perogi Lady) and ROCK & ROLL!  We'll kick the music off Wednesday evening…

A Return To Hiking

Written by
I spent a lot of my vacation last week hiking all around Kentucky's Natural Bridge State Park & Daniel Boone National Park. They were amazingly beautiful and it felt good to be out in nature. My husband and I both commented about how we haven't been out hiking way too long. It's something our family used to do all the time & we really enjoy it. I guess we just got busy running kids and it fell to the wayside without us realizing it. These things happen, but we have decided to take back our outdoor happiness!  The kids had…

Kids & Cliches...

Written by
Another school year has come to a close and my kids are excited to be sleeping in! Like most parents, I get a little sentimental when the school year ends. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, tells you all the cliches about how fast the time goes when you kids are babies. "Don't blink", "Enjoy them while they're little because it goes fast", you've heard them all and all of ithem are 100% true.  My son, Coen, just completed his freshman year of high school and will soon be driving himself to school. I'm looking forward to him shuttling himself around, but…
