May 2017 Winner - Nathan Pohlman

KWR2016 Nathan PNathan Pohlman from Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School has been a 4-year member of the STVM Rocket Team. He served as team captain for the Team America Rocketry Challenge in his Junior and Senior Years and has been on the NASA Student Launch Team for 3 years and served as Co-Captain during his Senior Year. Throughout high school, he has participated in cross country, marching and symphonic band, and ski club. When not in school, he volunteers at Good Neighbors and Akron-Canton Foodbank. Nate plans to study Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology at Bowling Green State University. Way to go, Nathan!!

Here's how to play: 
Tune in every weekday morning at 7:10am to hear Jeff Kinzbach announce a series of 5 numbers. Write them down. We will take one call every hour starting at 9am through 4pm, unscramble the numbers into the correct order of that day's jackpot and YOU WIN!
 
We will give specific information about how close each guess is so it will "pay" to listen in and play along. The money is just burnin' a hole in our pockets so let us give it to you!

April 2017 Winner - Brianna Miller

KWR2016 BriannaMBrianna Miller from Ellet High School is a very talented musician who is a member of Summit Bells, an Akron-based community handbell choir that plays at a professional level. Brianna is a member of the flag line in marching band, plays the violin and the cello in her school orchestra, the french horn in the school's concert band, and is a member of the Akron Youth Symphony. She is very active at her church in Tallmadge and is known to be fun, humble, and incredibly talented, truly making her a "kid who rocks." Way to go, Brianna!!

March 2017 Winner - Jacob Gmerek

KWR2016 JacobGJacob Gmerek of Jackson High School is a student who has rocked every obstacle that he has encountered. Despite being diagnosed with Epilepsy and undergoing brain surgery in Middle School, Jacob has never let this stop him. He runs Cross Country and serves on Student Council. He was selected for the HOBY Leadership Conference and Buckeye Boys State. Jacob’s leadership abilities extend far beyond the walls of the classroom as the former Akron Children’s Hospital Miracle Child spokesperson and his volunteer services for the hospital’s many community events. He looks forward to his next chapter at the University of Akron. Way to go, Jacob!!

February 2017 Winner - Mikhala Warner

KWR2016 MikhalaWMikhala is the poster child for a successful student. She is motivated, determined, and eager to accept any challenge. When the opportunity arose to take classes at the University of Akron, Mikhala accepted. She is maintaining a 4.0 GPA in her college classes which is equivalent to 5.0 for high school. She manages this while participating in HPAC (Health Professions Affinity Community), being a member of the National Honor Society, volunteering at One of a Kind Pet Rescue, and participating in awareness walks for such things as Sickle Cell Anemia and Cancer. Mikhala is goal driven and aiming for Doctorate’s Degree. Way to go, Mikhala!

January 2017 Winner - Nick Dobben

KWR2016 NickDNorton High School senior Nick Dobben currently has a 5.0 GPA. Not content to take just one Calculus class last semester, Nick took two! He's the President of the National Honor Society and plans on studying Engineering at The Ohio State University. Outside of school, Nick is a Student Leader at Grace Church in Norton and a life guard at the YMCA. He's described as kind and caring and he enjoys having breakfast once a week with his grandparents. Way to go, Nick!

December 2016 Winner - Samantha Plummer

KWR2016 SamanthaPThis Green High School senior is proud of her 4.7 GPA. In addition to being a scholar athlete as a 4-year member of the GHS Dance Team, Samantha Plummer also shows her talents on the stage in Musical Theatre, as well as Select Choir. She has excelled at the piano and dance for 13 years, and to round it off, she is also a member of the National Honor Society, Academy of Scholars, and the Green Professionals Association. Some believe Samantha is "braniac + artsy kid hybrid" but we know she is also a Kid Who Rocks. Way to go, Samantha!

November 2016 Winner - Carson Keenan

KWR2016 CarsonKCarson Keenan of Archbishop Hoban High School plays lead in the school's Steel Drum Band, composed multiple pieces, and has played piano during the National Anthem before football games. He is a 4-year letter winner and is team captain of Hoban's Bowling Team. Carson can boast perfect scores on the Math sections of his ACT and SAT and is Captain of Hoban's Academic Challenge team. He enjoyed volunteering his past two summers at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center and at Hoban's Justice Akron Ministry for the poor. Way to go, Carson!

KWR2016 OliviaNOlivia Nosel is described by faculty and friends at Firestone CLC as conscientious and caring. She's a founding member of the Firestone Pep Club and on the student council.
